Arbitrary attachment deletion via unchecked file identifier
Published Jul 29, 2026 · Updated Jul 29, 2026
Authorization bypass in MasterStudy LMS 3.7.23 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to delete arbitrary WordPress attachments. The stm_lms_delete_cover() handler passes a user-controlled file_id to wp_delete_attachment() without verifying attachment ownership. Instructor-level access is sufficient to delete another user's attachment by enumerating sequential identifiers.
