Privileged pod creation via unchecked standalone SecurityContext
Published Jun 10, 2026 · Updated Jun 10, 2026
Privilege escalation in Fission before 1.24.0 allows remote authenticated users to create privileged runtime or builder pods. Environment.Validate checks only Runtime.PodSpec and Builder.PodSpec, while MergeContainer merges each standalone Container SecurityContext without validation or sanitization. Create or update access to environments.fission.io is required; a crafted Environment runs under the executor service account and permits container escape, host access, and node or cluster compromise.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
