CVE-2026-5040

Credential recovery via weak password hashing

Published Jul 14, 2026 · Updated Jul 14, 2026

Weak password hashing in TP-Link Deco M5 v1 before 1.9.4 Build 20260312 Rel.17129 allows local users to recover stored credentials. The firmware stores password hashes with insufficient computational effort, leaving captured hashes susceptible to brute-force or dictionary cracking. Exploitation requires system compromise or privileged access to obtain a hash; recovered credentials can expose device-management functions.
