Browser-session compromise via unescaped media metadata
Published Jun 5, 2026 · Updated Jun 5, 2026
Stored XSS in Lyrion Music Server 9.2.0 allows attackers to run scripts through crafted media metadata in the web interface. The server imports GENRE, ARTIST, and ALBUM tags from a media file and renders their unneutralized values in track views or playback pages, allowing stored script execution. An attacker must place a crafted media file in the indexed library, and a user must view its track information or play it; execution can expose settings and invoke management functions in that user's browser session.
