Service discovery outage via rejected data center name
Published Jun 17, 2026 · Updated Jun 17, 2026
Denial of service in Steeltoe.Discovery.Eureka before 3.4.0 and 4.0.0 through 4.1.0 allows remote attackers to disable service discovery. DataCenterInfo.FromJson rejects valid Netflix and other unrecognized name values by throwing an exception that aborts registry deserialization, while the refresh task swallows the failure. An affected application must use EurekaDiscoveryClient and receive a registry containing such a value; new clients retain an empty registry and running clients retain stale entries.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
