CVE-2026-50162Public exploitNetwork attack vector

File writes outside workingDir via symlink traversal

Published Jul 17, 2026 · Updated Jul 17, 2026

Path traversal in ORAS Project oras-go before 2.6.1 allows remote attackers to write files outside workingDir via crafted blob titles. resolveWritePath() accepts a lexically confined ocispec.AnnotationTitle without resolving symlinked path components, and pushFile() follows the symlink when creating the file. Exploitation requires a consuming application to use the file store with AllowPathTraversalOnWrite=false and a workingDir symlink; the write is limited by the process's filesystem permissions.
