Authenticated code execution via UpnpEnabled stack overwrite
Published Mar 28, 2026 · Updated Mar 28, 2026
Stack-based buffer overflow in Wavlink WL-WN579X3-C 231124 allows remote authenticated users to execute code via a crafted UPnP setting. In firewall.cgi, sub_4019FC passes attacker-controlled UpnpEnabled data to uci_init_ptr, which writes 40 bytes into an eight-byte stack buffer and overwrites the return address. A valid web-management session is required; the demonstrated request corrupts control flow and crashes the CGI process, while precise overwrite data enables code execution on the device.
