Process crash via unbounded post-serve goroutines

Published Sep 11, 2026 · Updated Sep 14, 2026

Denial of service in SpectoLabs Hoverfly before 1.12.8 allows remote attackers to crash the process through remote post-serve actions. The action executor launches an unbounded goroutine per matching proxy request and calls http.DefaultClient.Do without a timeout, so a nonresponsive endpoint retains each goroutine and its memory. Access to the admin API, unauthenticated by default, is required to register the action and simulation; repeated proxy traffic then causes memory exhaustion and an OOM crash.
