Cookie deletion via unvalidated purge button metadata
Published Jul 17, 2026 · Updated Jul 17, 2026
Improper authorization in tarteaucitron.js before 1.33.0 allows remote attackers to delete known non-HttpOnly cookies through crafted HTML. The tarteaucitron.cookie.purge() handler trusts the purgeBtn class and data-cookie value without verifying that the element or cookie belongs to a managed service. The attacker must inject HTML with data attributes, know the cookie name, and induce a user click; HttpOnly cookies are unaffected.
