Local privilege escalation via integer overflow
Published Sep 8, 2026 · Updated Sep 10, 2026
Integer overflow in the Android System component in versions 16 QPR2 and 17 allows local users to elevate privileges without interaction. Multiple undisclosed functions use overflowed integer results in memory operations, causing out-of-bounds writes. An attacker needs existing local access but no additional execution privileges; successful exploitation grants higher local privileges.
