CVE-2026-49870Network attack vector

Account takeover via unthrottled TOTP guessing

Published Aug 19, 2026 · Updated Aug 19, 2026

Authentication bypass in Grokability Snipe-IT before 8.6.1 allows remote authenticated users to take over accounts via TOTP guessing. The POST /two-factor handler accepts the current TOTP plus one adjacent time step on either side, but applies no rate limit, lockout, or attempt counter before creating a fully authenticated session on a correct guess. Attackers need valid usernames and passwords first; in optional 2FA mode they can then disable two-factor protection through POST /account/profile without OTP re-verification, while required mode blocks that opt-out path.
