CVE-2026-49836Public exploit

Arbitrary file write via smart-object path traversal

Published Sep 10, 2026 · Updated Sep 10, 2026

Path traversal in psd-tools before 1.17.1 allows attackers to write arbitrary files by processing a crafted PSD or PSB file. SmartObject.save() passes an embedded, attacker-controlled filename directly to a write operation without rejecting absolute paths or parent-directory traversal. Exploitation requires a consuming application to extract an untrusted file; external smart objects can also disclose any file readable by that process.
