Unauthenticated root command execution via superuser takeover
Published Aug 12, 2026 · Updated Aug 12, 2026
Missing authentication in UpSnap 4.4.1 through 5.3.5 allows remote attackers to claim the initial superuser account. HandlerInitSuperuser checks only whether a superuser exists before saving attacker-supplied credentials and returning a 14-day JWT. When no superuser exists, that JWT permits creation of a device whose wake_cmd the server passes to the platform shell, executing commands with the UpSnap process's privileges.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
