Server impersonation via omitted TLS certificate checks
Published Aug 14, 2026 · Updated Aug 14, 2026
Improper certificate validation in erlang_quic before 1.4.4 allows man-in-the-middle attackers to impersonate QUIC and HTTP/3 servers. The client skips the CertificateVerify signature, certificate-chain, and hostname checks, making its verify setting ineffective. A network-path position and certificate-based handshake are required; PSK-authenticated resumptions remain unaffected, while intercepted connections lose confidentiality and integrity.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
