Anti-theft bypass via WCM CAN bus-off
Published May 29, 2026 · Updated May 29, 2026
Expected behavior violation in Indian Motorcycle Scout Bobber Limited +Tech 2025 WCM allows physically proximate attackers to bypass shutdown. Peer ECUs treat WCM silence after injected CAN errors as normal operation rather than a security event, so bus-off suppresses the anti-theft shutdown command. Physical access to the in-vehicle CAN network is required, and the bounded consequence is continued motorcycle operation while the immobilizer remains locked.
