Service interruption via predicted RPS array overflow
Published Jun 19, 2026 · Updated Jun 19, 2026
Out-of-bounds write in libde265 before 1.0.20 allows remote attackers to interrupt decoding via a crafted H.265 bitstream. decoder_context::process_reference_picture_set() validates separate reference lists but not their combined size, allowing predicted entries to write index 16 of the 16-entry PocStFoll array. Processing attacker-supplied media is required; the write can corrupt decoder memory and crash the consuming process.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.

What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
