CVE-2026-49282Public exploit

Process crash via unchecked instruction-name indexes

Published Aug 14, 2026 · Updated Aug 14, 2026

Out-of-bounds reads in Capstone before 6.0.0-Alpha9 allow local users to crash processes through invalid M68K or RISCV instruction IDs. The M68K backend indexes s_instruction_names without a bounds check, while the RISCV alias calculation underflows before indexing insn_alias_mnem_map. Reachability requires an application or binding to pass attacker-controlled IDs to cs_insn_name() on an M68K or RISCV handle; only a deterministic process crash was demonstrated.
