CVE-2026-49253Network attack vector

Arbitrary file overwrite via filename traversal

Published Aug 19, 2026 · Updated Aug 19, 2026

Path traversal in electerm before 3.11.11 allows remote attackers to overwrite local files via crafted Zmodem or Trzsz filenames. In src/app/server/zmodem.js and src/app/server/trzsz.js, the download handlers join remote-supplied names to the chosen save path with path.join() and related destination bookkeeping before sanitizing traversal elements. Exploitation requires the victim to connect to a malicious SSH server or shell, accept the transfer, and choose a download directory; the resulting write is limited to files writable by the desktop user.
