CVE-2026-49145

Arbitrary file read via project configuration

Published Jul 8, 2026 · Updated Jul 8, 2026

Arbitrary file read in Andy Lester ack 3.10.0 and earlier allows context-dependent attackers to expose local files through a project .ackrc. App::Ack::ConfigLoader::_process_other accepts --files-from from project configuration, causing ack to read and search every path listed by that option. Exploitation requires a user to run ack within an untrusted repository tree; matching lines from files readable by that user's account are printed.
