Denial of service via unbounded Matrix media downloads
Published Jun 1, 2026 · Updated Jun 1, 2026
Denial of service in Data Intelligence Lab @ HKU nanobot before 0.2.1 allows remote authenticated users to exhaust memory via Matrix media. The Matrix channel accepts missing or invalid content.info.size values, materializes whole response bodies before rejecting them, and permits concurrent downloads. Reachability requires Matrix to be enabled and an admitted room member to send media; repeated events degrade the bot process without reported data disclosure or modification.
