Protocol-field injection via unchecked XSPF location
Published May 28, 2026 · Updated May 28, 2026
CRLF injection in Music Player Daemon before 0.24.11 allows remote attackers to forge MPD protocol fields through a malicious XSPF playlist. The xspf_char_data callback appends Expat-decoded numeric character references to a location URI without rejecting CR or LF bytes, which then reach protocol and state-file writers as raw line delimiters. An unauthenticated client that can make MPD load an attacker-controlled playlist can falsify song metadata seen by clients and downstream consumers.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
