Unauthenticated file disclosure via URI path traversal
Published May 28, 2026 · Updated May 28, 2026
Path traversal in Music Player Daemon before 0.24.11 allows remote attackers to enumerate directories and read selected image files. LocalStorage::MapFSOrThrow and LocalStorage::MapUTF8 join the storage root to an untrusted URI without canonicalization, leaving dot-dot segments for the kernel to resolve. Network access to the MPD protocol is sufficient; listfiles exposes readable directory metadata, while albumart reads only cover.png, cover.jpg, cover.jxl, or cover.webp.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
