Message redirection via unfiltered Kafka control header
Published Jul 6, 2026 · Updated Jul 6, 2026
Header injection in affected Apache Camel releases allows remote attackers to redirect Kafka messages through crafted HTTP headers. KafkaProducer.evaluateTopic() prefers the untrusted kafka.OVERRIDE_TOPIC Exchange header over the endpoint's configured topic because the upstream HTTP filter does not block the non-Camel-prefixed name. Reachability requires an HTTP-consumer-to-Kafka-producer route; an unauthenticated consumer lets attackers write forged records to unintended topics.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=4.0.0 <4.14.8
