Unauthenticated privilege escalation via permissive REST authorization
Published Jun 11, 2026 · Updated Jun 11, 2026
Incorrect privilege assignment in Hippoo Mobile App for WooCommerce 1.9.4 and earlier allows remote attackers to reset administrator passwords. The get_user_permissions helper returns null for unauthenticated visitors, and has_role_access treats null as unrestricted when cloned REST routes are checked. No account or user interaction is required; read-only requests expose user data, while a crafted POST replaces an administrator password.
