Service interruption via unchecked MAT decoder result
Published Jun 10, 2026 · Updated Jun 10, 2026
Heap buffer overflow in ImageMagick before 6.9.13-48 or 7.1.2-24 allows remote attackers to interrupt 32-bit processes via MAT files. The MAT decoder fails to validate a function return value before using the result, permitting an out-of-bounds write to heap memory. Exploitation requires an untrusted MAT image to reach a 32-bit decoder; the published assessment limits the demonstrated consequence to service interruption.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
