CVE-2026-48961

CLI crash via misnamed 64-bit decoder helper

Published May 27, 2026 · Updated May 27, 2026

Denial of service in the bundled zipdetails CLI in IO::Compress 2.207 through 2.219 allows attackers to crash the tool with a crafted ZIP file. The decode_ux function sends an eight-byte UID or GID from Info-ZIP field 0x7875 through decodeLitteEndian, which calls nonexistent unpackValueQ instead of the defined unpackValue_Q helper. Exploitation requires zipdetails to process the crafted archive and terminates only that CLI with exit status 255; library callers are unaffected.
