Authentication bypass via insufficient MFA state checks
Published May 26, 2026 · Updated May 26, 2026
Authentication bypass in Joomla! CMS 4.0.0 through 5.4.5 and 6.0.0 through 6.1.0 allows remote attackers to bypass configured 2FA. The MFA flow performs insufficient state checks before enforcing the second factor; the affected function and request sequence are undisclosed. Exploitation requires a particular but undisclosed MFA-flow condition, and successful bypass defeats second-factor enforcement for the targeted authentication flow.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
