Pre-auth SQL injection via replacement backslash bypass
Published May 25, 2026 · Updated May 25, 2026
SQL injection in Roundcube Webmail 1.6.0 through 1.6.15 and 1.7.0 allows remote attackers to read or alter database data. The virtuser_query plugin passes an escaped username or email through preg_replace replacement processing before inserting it into configured SQL and executing the query, allowing backslashes to change the replacement result. The plugin must be enabled and configured for database-backed identity lookup; no Roundcube account or user interaction is required.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=1.6.0 <1.6.16
