Post-removal thread rewriting via missing mailbox check
Published May 29, 2026 · Updated May 29, 2026
Improper authorization in FreeScout before 1.8.221 allows remote authenticated users to rewrite prior thread bodies after mailbox removal. ThreadPolicy::edit checks authorship and PERM_EDIT_CONVERSATIONS but omits current mailbox membership before save_edit_thread stores the supplied body. Exploitation requires prior authorship of the message or note and continued edit permission; other content remains out of scope.
