CVE-2026-48756Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Authenticated daemon crash via nil snapshot expiry

Published Aug 21, 2026 · Updated Aug 21, 2026

Nil-pointer dereference in Linux Containers Incus before 7.1.0 allows remote authenticated users to crash incusd via a crafted backup. CreateCustomVolumeFromBackup dereferences the optional ExpiresAt pointer for each imported volume snapshot without checking whether the field is absent. A user with can_create_storage_volumes on any project can submit the tarball through the REST API or Unix socket, terminating the daemon and active management operations until restart.
