CVE-2026-48731

Local command execution via shell-expanded external-editor paths

Published Jun 24, 2026 · Updated Jun 24, 2026

OS command injection in Linux builds of Warp allows local users to execute commands through crafted file paths opened in an external editor. The Linux launcher expanded freedesktop .desktop Exec templates with an untrusted file path and passed the resulting text to sh -c. Exploitation requires a user to open the crafted local path through an affected external-editor or system-default-editor route, and commands run with that user's permissions.
