CVE-2026-48686Network attack vector

Remote code execution via unvalidated BGP prefix

Published May 26, 2026 · Updated May 26, 2026

Stack-based buffer overflow in FastNetMon Community Edition through 1.2.9 allows remote attackers to execute code via crafted BGP NLRI. decode_bgp_subnet_encoding_ipv4_raw() trusts the wire prefix length, derives a copy of up to 32 bytes, and writes it into a four-byte stack variable. Reachability requires control of a configured BGP peer or a man-in-the-middle position; code runs in the FastNetMon process context.
