Service interruption via extended-length BGP attribute misparsing
Published May 26, 2026 · Updated May 26, 2026
Out-of-bounds access in FastNetMon Community Edition 1.2.9 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to interrupt BGP update processing. The parse_raw_bgp_attribute() function treats a two-byte extended attribute length as one byte, so trailing value bytes become new attributes and parsing can access memory out of bounds. Control of BGP data accepted through the GoBGP or ExaBGP integration is required; the reported consequence is limited to service interruption.
