Authenticated node crash via unbounded cron expansion

Published May 26, 2026 · Updated May 26, 2026

Resource exhaustion in Oban Web 2.12.0 through 2.12.4 allows remote authenticated users to crash the BEAM node via a crafted cron range. CronExpr.parse_range accepts unchecked endpoints, and expansion helpers eagerly convert the resulting range into a list that consumes gigabytes of memory. Exploitation requires permission to schedule a cron job and a dashboard user to view the cron list, causing the hosting node to stall or crash.
