Service interruption via unbounded TZlibTransport decompression
Published Jul 27, 2026 · Updated Jul 27, 2026
Improper handling of compressed data in Apache Thrift before 0.24.0 allows remote attackers to interrupt RPC services. TZlibTransport in the C++, Java, Python, Go, D, and C/GLib bindings expands attacker-controlled zlib data without enforcing a decompressed-size limit. An unauthenticated network peer can exhaust CPU or memory only when a client or server exposes a zlib-enabled Thrift transport.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
