Stored XSS via UnsafeXHTML metadata rendering
Published Jun 1, 2026 · Updated Jun 1, 2026
Stored XSS in Lightweight Music Server 3.76.0 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute JavaScript via media metadata. src/lms/ui/Utils.cpp passes GENRE, ARTIST, and ALBUM values to Wt::WText with Wt::TextFormat::UnsafeXHTML, so library scanning stores markup that the web interface renders without sanitization. Remote authenticated users must also be able to place a crafted media file in a scanned library; viewing or filtering its imported tags triggers execution.
