Administrator directory deletion via upload path traversal
Published Apr 17, 2026 · Updated Apr 17, 2026
Path traversal in JetBackup for WordPress 3.1.19.8 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to delete directories via file upload. The handler passes a fileName sanitized only by sanitize_text_field() to Upload::getFileLocation(); failed-upload cleanup then passes dirname() of the traversed path to recursive Util::rm(). Administrator access and an invalid upload are required, and deletion of wp-content/plugins can disable every installed plugin.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
