Process crash via unbounded JSON conversion recursion
Published Jun 22, 2026 · Updated Jun 22, 2026
Uncontrolled recursion in MessagePack for C# before 2.5.301 and 3.0 through 3.1.6 allows remote attackers to crash consuming processes. ConvertFromJson omits object-graph depth checks, TinyJsonReader self-recurses on separators, and ext-100 conversion skips DepthStep. Exposure requires an application to pass attacker-controlled JSON or typeless MessagePack to these APIs; stack exhaustion raises an uncatchable StackOverflowException.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=< 2.5.301
