Administrator lockout via unchecked bulk authentication-field updates
Published Jun 8, 2026 · Updated Jun 8, 2026
Incorrect authorization in Snipe-IT before 8.6.0 allows remote authenticated users with users.edit permission to lock out administrators. BulkUsersController::update adds activated and ldap_import to a mass-update array before applying the per-user canEditAuthFields check, so protected administrator authentication fields are changed without target-specific authorization. The granular users.edit permission is sufficient to disable administrator logins and password resets, interrupting administrative access to the instance.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
