Remote process termination via unchecked skip recursion
Published Jun 22, 2026 · Updated Jun 22, 2026
Uncontrolled recursion in MessagePack for C# before 2.5.301 and 3.0 through 3.1.6 allows remote attackers to terminate host processes. MessagePackReader.TrySkip recursively traverses nested arrays and maps in skipped values without updating depth or enforcing MaximumObjectGraphDepth. Exploitation requires an application to deserialize an untrusted payload whose unknown, extra, or ignored member reaches a skip path; stack exhaustion then terminates the process.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
