Code execution via malicious postinstall payload

Published Aug 10, 2026 · Updated Aug 10, 2026

Supply-chain code execution in postinstall in Daishi Kato use-context-selector affected commits allows remote attackers to run JavaScript. src/install.js was referenced by package.json, disabled TLS verification, fetched attacker-controlled JavaScript over HTTPS, and evaluated it with require available. Execution requires npm install from an affected checkout on a developer workstation, excludes CI and cloud environments, and runs with the installing user's permissions.
