Service interruption via unbounded Client Hints parsing
Published Jul 14, 2026 · Updated Jul 14, 2026
ReDoS in UAParser.js 2.0.1 through 2.0.9 allows remote attackers to consume excessive CPU via a crafted Sec-CH-UA-Model header. withClientHints() passes the unbounded model value into a device-detection regular expression whose ambiguous repetitions trigger catastrophic backtracking. Exposure requires an application to supply attacker-controlled Client Hints to withClientHints(); the resulting CPU exhaustion can interrupt that application’s service.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
