Contributor-level stored XSS via unsanitized remote embeds
Published Aug 7, 2026 · Updated Aug 7, 2026
Stored XSS in David Artiss Code Embed before 2.6.1 allows remote authenticated users to execute JavaScript through a pending post. The ce_quick_replace() path fetches a URL token through ce_get_file() and substitutes the response body after save-time filtering without sanitizing it or checking unfiltered_html. Contributor access is required, and execution occurs only when an Administrator or Editor previews or reviews the post in a same-origin session.
