CVE-2026-48065

Heap corruption via unchecked device-count multiplication

Published May 27, 2026 · Updated May 27, 2026

Heap-based buffer overflow in mcdope pam_usb before 0.9.1 allows local users to corrupt memory through a crafted device configuration. In src/conf.c, an unbounded XPath-derived n_devices count wraps the size_t multiplication passed to xmalloc(), after which array writes overrun the undersized allocation. Exploitation requires write access to the root-owned configuration and a 32-bit armv7l or i686 host; heap corruption can affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
