Arbitrary file write via unsanitized archive entries
Published Jun 16, 2026 · Updated Jun 16, 2026
Path traversal in Streambert 2.4.0 and earlier allows remote attackers to write arbitrary files through a malicious subtitle archive. In src/ipc/subtitles.js, the get-subtitle-url handler appends each raw extracted.name value to a temporary path without removing traversal segments, so archive entries escape the intended directory. Processing a crafted ZIP through the subtitle flow writes attacker-controlled content anywhere permitted by the application's operating-system account, enabling file replacement or later code execution.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
