CVE-2026-4802Network attack vector

Authenticated command execution via incomplete shell quoting

Published May 11, 2026 · Updated May 11, 2026

OS command injection in Cockpit on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8, 9, and 10 allows remote authenticated users to execute host commands. The logsJournal.jsx loadServiceFilters path escapes only spaces before joining log-filter arguments into a pipeline executed by /bin/bash -ec. The target user must be logged in and open a crafted logs-page link; injected shell metacharacters then execute with that Cockpit session's host privileges.
