Authenticated code execution via functionName template injection
Published Jun 15, 2026 · Updated Jun 15, 2026
Code injection in the DbGate loadReader endpoint through 7.1.8 allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary OS commands. The endpoint passes functionName to compileShellApiFunctionName, which inserts it unvalidated into JavaScript executed by a forked Node.js process. Basic account access is sufficient; injected code bypasses the require-null restriction and gains the process's file, credential, and host access.
