Call decryption via full-URL analytics reporting
Published Aug 7, 2026 · Updated Aug 7, 2026
Information disclosure in Element Call 0.5.17 through 0.19.3 allows attackers with analytics access to obtain call encryption passwords. PostHog fields named $initial_person_info, $session_entry_url, and $current_url retain the complete visited URL, including its fragment. Exploitation requires a standalone deployment with URL-encoded passwords and access to both its analytics data and encrypted media streams, enabling call decryption.
