Authenticated SSRF and file reads via proto descriptors
Published Aug 27, 2026 · Updated Aug 27, 2026
SSRF and local file access in affected Spring Cloud Gateway releases allow remote authenticated users to read remote or host resources. The JsonToGrpcGatewayFilterFactory accepts an unrestricted Spring Resource location for its proto descriptor and dereferences attacker-selected URL or file schemes. Exploitation requires high privileges to control a JsonToGrpc route; affected ranges are 3.1.13 and earlier, 4.0.0 through 4.2.9, 4.3.0 through 4.3.5, and 5.0.0 through 5.0.2.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
