CVE-2026-47876Known exploitation

Guest-to-host code execution via VMXNET3 overwrite

Published Jul 30, 2026 · Updated Jul 30, 2026

Out-of-bounds write in the VMXNET3 adapter in VMware ESX allows guest OS users with administrative access to execute code on the host. Broadcom has not published the exact VMXNET3 field, handler, or missing bounds check that permits guest-controlled data to overwrite memory. Exploitation requires an administratively controlled guest configured with VMXNET3; other virtual adapters are unaffected.
